TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF USE OF MyMountSinai® PATIENT PORTAL

Mount Sinai Health System (inclusive of all the Mount Sinai provider locations that share electronic medical records) pleased to offer you access to information in your electronic medical record via Web-based and Mobile versions of our electronic medical record called MyMountSinai®. MyMountSinai® does not reflect the complete contents of your Mount Sinai Health System medical record. Information on how to request copies of your medical record can be found at https://www.mountsinai.org/about/medical-records.

To use MyMountSinai®, you must accept these Terms and Conditions by clicking "I Accept" below.

Mount Sinai Health System reserves the right in its sole discretion to revoke your access to MyMountSinai® at any time for any reason. For your privacy, your active logged on session of MyMountSinai® will time out after 15 minutes of inactivity. You will need to log back in to regain access to the system. Mount Sinai Health System also reserves the right to discontinue providing MyMountSinai® access altogether.

Response to Your Electronic Communications - MyMountSinai® messaging is for sending non-urgent non-emergency messages to your provider’s practice. Please allow 2-3 business days for a response.

Note: Messages are not monitored after hours, or on weekends, or on holidays. For Urgent care or emergencies, please call 911 or go to the nearest Emergency Department or Urgent Care Facility.

MyMountSinai® messages are retained as part of the patient’s electronic medical record.

Links to Third Party Websites –Solely as a convenience to users, MyMountSinai® may offer links to related medical Web sites not managed by Mount Sinai Health System, including web sites for which you may have already registered as a user (or for which your physician has registered you as a user). If you use these links, you will leave MyMountSinai®. You agree that your use of third-party websites and resources, including without limitation your use of any content, information, data, advertising, products or other materials on or available through such websites and resources, is at your own risk and is subject to the terms and conditions of use applicable to such websites and resources. Access Levels:

Adult Accessing Adult Accounts

An adult patient who is 18 or older and who wants to allow other adults to access their MyMountSinai® account can grant and revoke access at their own discretion through MyMountSinai®.

You are responsible for revoking any access which you have granted when you no longer want the person seeing your information.

Parents of Children Ages 0-11

Parents of a child in this age group will have full proxy access to their child’s information until the child’s 12th Birthday. Parents will receive a notification on MyMountSinai® just prior to the child’s 12th birthday to remind the parent that access will be expiring soon, and to inform the parent of what steps to take to gain limited access for a child who is 12-17.99 years old.

Parents of Children Ages 12-17

Parents of a child in this age group will have limited online access to the following:

  • View growth charts.
  • View bills for which the accessing parent is the guarantor.
  • Communicate with providers that have initiated a message with you.

Access will expire on the 18th birthday. Parents will receive a notification from MyMountSinai® just prior to the child’s birthday to remind the parent that access will expire soon, and to inform the parent of how to request access again.

If your child is 18 years old, they will need to grant you access on their own as described in the Adult Accessing Adult section above.

E-mail Privacy -Users of MyMountSinai® will be notified via e-mail or SMS when there is new medical information available to be viewed on MyMountSinai®. Any person with access to a patient's e-mail account will receive this notification. Although no private medical information will be sent via e-mail, the notification that new medical information is available by accessing MyMountSinai® may be information that a patient would not want others to know. Thus patients should take this into consideration when providing an e-mail address.

Please know that if you send us a message on MyMountSinai® it may be shared with the Mount Sinai Health System staff who assist physicians in providing medical care. Email addresses may also be used for communications not related to MyMountSinai® included communications about MSHS programs and fundraising

Security and Confidentiality -We afford the same degree of confidentiality to medical information stored on MyMountSinai® as is given to medical information stored by Mount Sinai Health System in any other medium. Mount Sinai Health System is committed to protecting the confidentiality of your medical information. We limit Mount Sinai employees' access and ability to enter or view information based upon their role in your care. Firewalls, passwords, encryption, and audit trails are further used to safeguard your information. We shall identify the records released and note the time and date of access each time a patient accesses MyMountSinai®. We have taken steps to secure against unauthorized access and use all information received from our online visitors. It is your responsibility to select a confidential password, to maintain that password in a secure manner, to not share the password, and to change the password if you believe it may have been compromised in any way.

Minimum Technical Requirements.You need access to the internet and access to a computer. You need access to a browser: Microsoft Edge (Chromium), Mozilla Firefox 13.x and above, Safari 5.x on Mac/Windows, or Google Chrome 20.x and above.

These Terms and Conditions, and your use of and access to MyMountSinai®, are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Jurisdiction and venue for any cause of action arising hereunder shall be New York County, New York.

These Terms and Conditions may be amended by Mount Sinai Health System at any time without notice. Your next use of MyMountSinai® without objection shall be deemed to be accepted of the new Terms and Conditions.
