Mia and Jacy surprised fans by revealing that they auditioned for the upcoming season of ‘American Idol.’
Fans of The Voice may recognize a few faces on the upcoming season of American Idol as Mia Matthews and Jacy Matthews of the trio Worth The Wait revealed that they auditioned for the show.
The sisters shared the news on social media in separate Instagram posts. It appears that they auditioned for the show as solo artists, not as a duo or as part of Worth The Wait.

Jacy shared, “Hoping santa brings me a golden ticket this christmas!🎅🎅🎅 SURPRISE!! I AUDITIONED for this superrrr cool show. the new season of @americanidol premieres FEB 18TH and this face might just end up on ur tv screen! 💙” Her post included a few photos from the day she auditioned.

Mia also shared the news on Instagram with a few photos and the caption, “SURPRISE!!! I AUDITIONED FOR SEASON 22 of @americanidol ◡̈ tune in for the season premiere on February 18 and see if I got a golden ticket!!!🤭💘⭐️❤️🔥😇”
Worth The Wait confirmed that the trio is “still together and going strong” amid the news.
“We do hope you guys will all watch and support our girls!! Season kicks off Feb 18th,” the trio’s Facebook page confirmed.
Worth The Wait Appeared On Season 19 Of The Voice
Mia and Jacy originally appeared on The Voice Season 19 alongside their mother, Tara Matthews. Together, they showcased their family harmonies as part of the country trio Worth The Wait. Their blind audition performance of Linda Ronstadt’s “When Will I Be Loved” earned an impressive four-chair turn. Ultimately, they chose to join Team Blake Shelton.
During their audition, Tara, who also goes by Mama T, said, “The girls have been singing pretty much their entire lives.”
Worth The Wait Was On Team Blake
Throughout their time on The Voice, Worth The Wait performed covers of country hits such as “Love Is Alive” by The Judds, “Delta Dawn” by Tanya Tucker, and “I’m Gonna Love You Through It” by Martina McBride.
Their time on the show was cut short just before the Top 9 was revealed. They bid an emotional farewell to Shelton, who they lovingly called “Uncle Blake,” telling him, “We are filled with gratitude for just this whole experience. We didn’t know how far we would go. It was a blessing to our family.”
The group left The Voice in December of 2020 and since then, they have continued to perform together. Shelton has showcased his unwavering support for the trio as they have performed at his Ole Red locations around the country on various occasions.
Last year, Worth The Wait got the surprise of a lifetime from Shelton while performing at Ole Red Gatlinburg.
At the time, the “No Body” singer called into the establishment via his official red phone.
“What’s up? I know it’s your old coach calling in to say ‘hi, how you guys doing?’ Well, I just wanted to bump my head in and say hi to you guys. Haven’t seen you since… I don’t even know when,” Shelton said over video chat. “I think I saw you one time since you were on the show and it just makes me happy to know that you’re still out there hammering away.”
Grand Ole Opry Debut
Then Shelton delivered the news. “I just wanted to call in and say hi to you three and tell you that I missed you and I’m really proud of you and oh yeah, I almost forgot I’d like to invite you to play at the Grand Ole Opry next year.”
The trio was left speechless. They later shared that their “hearts are exploding” over the excitement.
Wroth The Wait officially made their Grand Ole Opry debut on January 7, 2023. They have returned to play at the iconic venue on several occasions since then.
