Today we celebrate the U.S. Coast Guard's 234th birthday by recognizing and thanking our employees, and others, who served and continue to serve our country.Andrew E. of DG's Scottsville, Kentucky Distribution Center served in the Coast Guard from 2005-2009 as a machinery technician. He served on an icebreaker in Antarctica for one-year, followed by a law enforcement vessel performing counter drug enforcement in Central America and, finally, a fishery boarding and search and rescue team in Alaska."My experience in the Coast Guard, dealing with high stress emergency situations, has prepared me for my role as a merge operator at DG where I'm able to deal with multiple issues at once.
